Don is a General Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Activate. His current investment portfolio includes DAPT Technologies. He is actively involved in a number of other companies at the firm including Cypris and Princeton Identity. His previous investments include Othot (acquired by Liaison International), Synovis (IPO), and Aviom.

Don is a seasoned entrepreneur and operating executive, having been the CEO and CFO of multiple venture-backed software, hardware, and telecommunications companies. Formerly, Don was CEO of Critical Mention, Inc. a media intelligence/content business. Critical Mention became an award-winning vendor under his leadership and was acquired by Onclusive.

Before joining Critical Mention, Don was COO and CFO of Corrente, a cloud networking acquired by Oracle and Executive Vice President and COO of TVI Corporation (NASDAQ:TVIN), a publicly-traded supplier of personal health and safety technologies. Don has also been an Operating Partner and CFO at Mid Atlantic Venture Funds, where he partnered with portfolio company management teams to assist them in achieving operational and financial success.

Prior to entering the venture business, Don held executive positions in corporate strategy and finance, including serving as CFO of a public company. He has led and completed equity and debt financings as well as an initial public offering. Don began his career in public accounting and banking.

Don has been recognized as CFO of the Year by the Northern Virginia Technology Council and Entrepreneurial Advocate of the Year by Pennsylvania’s Ben Franklin Tech Ventures. He has served on the Board of Directors of PACT (formerly the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group).

Don holds a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, where he won the Richard H. Jenrette Fellowship.
